Children at the Royal United Hospital have had a surprise visit from some panto stars.

Cast members from Sleeping Beauty put a smile on the faces of patients in the hospital's children's centre.

The pantomime, which consisted of just four actors, was part of Starlight Children's Foundation's tour.

Children were encouraged to clap and boo the characters throughout the interactive show.

The show's run lasts for five weeks and thousands of sick kids will get the chance to watch the pantomime, as Starlight has arranged to visit 50 hospitals up and down the country.

RUH play specialist Victoria Barr said it had been a successful visit.

She said: "The pantomime was fantastic for the children and it was great to see them all get involved and having fun with the actors.

"We are so grateful to Starlight for organising the event and for everything they do to support the hospital and our patients.

"It is wonderful that so many other sick children around the country will be able to experience this special event."

The young audience were given colouring pencils and colouring books to entertain them before the action started.
