High five for young Ashton

ASHTON TURNER is celebrating a superb fifth Lincolnshire Junior Championship.

The 14-year-old, from Alford, picked up the title at Kenwick Golf Club with a superb score of gross 73.

However, despite claiming the crown, Ashton was still confident he could have performed better.

"I was delighted to win this Championship for the fifth consecutive year," said Ashton, who attends the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Alford.

"However, although I had a good round, it could have been better."

This is the fifth year in a row that Ashton has won the Junior Championships, and his parents, Simon and Angie are extremely proud of his achievements.

Dad Simon said: "Ashton has had a fantastic year so far and winning this competition is another great achievement for him.

"He's worked exceedingly hard this year to reach his goals and Angie and I are extremely proud of him."

The competition came one week after Ashton also won the Men's Summer Medal at Kenwick Park with a score of gross 72. Ashton said: "I have worked on all areas of my game this year in order to improve on my consistency from one round to the next.

"It felt very rewarding to win these competitions back to back."
