The record office created a sensory box to bring alive a letter written by the captain of a trade ship destined for India in the 1800s.

The sensory box of replica archive material and objects featured the replica letter, dating from about 1842, which details the journey to India, together with a map. The letter was reproduced in Braille Replica Breitling Watches on parchment and the map and the trade routes depicted were also raised to help learning.

The young people have also been on a school visit to the record office. A representative from the record office has attended a conference in London to present the project.

The next stage will involve two projects being chosen for the final. The winner will be announced early next year. All the projects will be highlighted in a booklet to be produced by the LGIU in 2010.
